Abstract This paper will identify the best possible decisions used in determining databases and data communication. I will discuss and respond to two scenario-based questions. As a marketing assistant for a company and I have to tracks data about booth components, equipment, shippers, and shipment. I will determine if a database system is suitable or whether an Excel is more appropriate. I will also decide if I will use a personal or enterprise database. In the second scenario I will decide type of network my company will use as well if my business will require wireless. I will also examine the proper security protocol and use Microsoft Excl to impact my decision. Determining Databases and Data Communication Determining Databases and Data Communication is important because it allows me to manage data and query, store information, and has proven to be a essential component in day-today business. Building Relationships for Effective Ministry free essay sample
The following statement is worth noting; The better we are at interpreting the culture, the fewer conflicts we will experience, the more we will be able to build authentic relationships, and the greater will be our ability to communicate Gods truth (p. 14). Secondly, the presentation of Western cultures versus two-third world cultures clearly brings out the vastness of differences in cultures and the books is basically written for Western audience to help them understand this cultural differences. It may be noted however, that even within the areas covered by the two-third world group, there are again various different cultures and the people within this group have their own struggles in their intercultural relationships. Thirdly, the writer is able to bring out from his vast knowledge and experience the intricate complexity of human culture which in itself is a great asset for anyone intending to venture out for any form of intercultural exposure. It will also be to their benefit to take note of the various methods and approaches to solve cultural conflicts.Fourthly, the statement of the writer Diversity is rooted in the creative activity of God (p. 23), most probably need a deeper investigation. The main cause of human cultural diversity begins with the Babel dispersion when God suddenly made them speak in different languages and they could not understand each other anymore (Gen. 11 12). Since the language breakup is evidently caused by their evil intention, should the language breakup be considered a curse or a boon? While instances of Gods acknowledgement and appreciation of ethnic and cultural diversities are plenty in the bible, a proper connection or explanation need to be made with the origin of human languages at the Babel dispersion. Fourthly, the method of Bruce Olson, a missionary to the Indians in Colombo, in helping the witch doctor to heal the eyesore with Terramycin in order to avoid a possible conflict with her seems to pose certain complication. In such culture witch doctors are feared and respected because they are known to possess evil power. They are often opposed to the work of the missionaries as their successful ministries naturally means they will lose their followers. The battle is usually the witch doctor versus the missionaries. In such a situation helping the witch doctor to heal the eyesores with medicine may definitely help save the witch doctors face and avoid the possible conflict. But on the other hand, Bruce Olson is helping the witch doctor to gain more trust from her people while as a missionary one of his responsibilities should have been delivering the people from the clutches of such witch doctors.Appreciation: My reading of this book has led me to look at intercultural conflict in a different perspective. Being from the north east part of India where intercultural relation is a very delicate issue, we never look from a missions point of view. As church leaders, our concern is in building peaceful relations between various ethnic groups in order to avoid a possible flare up of ethnic war and initiate peaceful negotiations in the event that conflict arise between ethnic groups. This book has not only helped me see conflict resolution from a mission perspective but also helps me realize the importance of the issue of conflict resolution in a much wider scope. Secondly, I am amazed how the writer has been able to bring out the relevance of conflict resoluti on for Christians from the bible itself. From the statement that God was, in fact, involved in the greatest conflict in history, a conflict that was cosmic in scope. (p. 7), the subsequent description of Jesus death on the cross to resolve the conflict between God and man and also references to many biblical instances of conflict resolution is definitely helpful. In a setting where I come from many Christians are of the opinion that negotiating peace between two conflicting groups can only be solved by the government and the church need not be involved. This is true in a sense that the government has the resources to come up with some financial packages to compensate the loss suffered due to the conflict which the church is often unable to do. Thirdly, all third world countries will be well aware of the practice of bribes in having things done in offices. Many Christians in these countries have taken this as normative and no longer regard it as something sinful. However, the way the writer presents the importance of not to give in to such practices and coming up with an idea of within forty-eight hours of obtaining your request you return to that official expressing your ratitude and possibly with a gift that would be fitting to his or her status and service to you (p. 91) is a very practical way of dealing with the issue of bribe. Fourthly, one thing that makes this book so credible is the numerous case studies used to prove and explain the points. The case study of the Israelites in the matter of the construction of an altar by the two and half tribes mentioned in chapter 11 of the book helps me learn one lesson. As the famous English proverb says, A stitch in time saves nine a timely few words of explanation of intent t o Joshua would have avoided the unnecessary initial anger and confrontation even though it did not result in a conflict. We need to learn that many unnecessary hurt and conflict could be avoided if we all take time to speak and share things to the people concern. Relevance: This book managed to bring out one of the most important dimension of Christian mission. In fact, it may not be an exaggeration to say that the success of ones ministry in a cross-cultural setting will depend a lot on how well we master and practice this art of cross-cultural conflict resolution. Therefore as long as human beings exist in various cultural situations and as long as the need for intercultural interaction is required, the book will continue to remain an asset for anyone who is serious about his or her business. This book is a must-read for every Christian leader, pastors and missionaries.

Julius Caesar Essays (1979 words) - Julius Caesar, First Triumvirate
Julius Caesar Julius Caesar was said to be the greatest man in the Roman world. Some historians, and among them those of international authority, have made greater claims for him. He was the greatest of the Roman would but of antiquity. Looking through the onlg list of rulers, kings and emperors and the rest, they have failed to find an wuqual of this man who refused the style of king but those name Ceasar has become the commanding majesty and power. Great as a general, great as a politican. Born in 102 B.C., or it may have been tow or three years later, Gaius Julius Caesar, to give him his full name, was of the most ancient and aristocratic lineage. Although he himself, rationalist as he was, must have smiled sometimes at the conceit, there were some who said that he was not only of royal but divine descent, since Venus, the goddess of Love, and married a Trojan prince and so become the mother of the legendary founder of the Julian house. All the same, circumstances and perhaps personal inclinations attached him to the comparatively democratic party. His aunt had married as a youth of seventeen to the daughter of Cinna, another leader of the fraction tht was opposed to the aristocratic party under Sulla, Marius, great rival. A year or two later, when Sulla had become supreme in the state, the young man was ordered to put away his wife. He refused, and his life was saved only through the intercession of powerful friends in Rome. But though he had been reprieved, Ceasar was far from safe, and for a time he skulled in the mountains until he managed to get acrss the sea to Asia Minor, where he served in the Roman army that was campaigning against Mithridates, the king of Pontus. At the seige of Mitylene in 80 B.C. he first distinguished himself as a soldier when he saved the life of a hard-pressed cmrade. On the death of he kept himself at the bar. His politics and made a career for himself at the bar. His political learning were showwn clearly enought, however, when he ventured to act as prosecutor of one of Sulla's principal lieutnants, who was charged with gross extortion and crueltu when he was governor of the Macedonian province. To improve himself in rhetoric, Casear went to Rhodes to take a course of lessons under a celebrated master of that art, and it was probably at about this time that he had his famous encouter with Mediterranean pirates. These rufians captured the ship in which he was a passenger, and put his ransom. While his messenger was away collecting the money, Caesar made himself quite at home with his captors. He told them amusing stories, joked with them, joined in their exercises, and, always in the highest good humor, told laughed and joined in the fun. But Caesar was as good as his word. As soon as his ransom had been paid some over and he regained his liberty, he went to Miletus, hired some warships, and made straight back to the pirates, and ordered them to be crucified as he had assured them that he would. He also got back the money that had benn paid as his ransom. Still on the fringe of the political arena, Caesar spent the next few years as a gay young man about town. His family wasn't rich, but there were plenty of moneylenders who were glad to accommodate him. He spent money like water, on expensive pleasures women particularly, since he was as facinating to them as they were to him and on building up a body of popular support for the time when he might need it. Then in 68 B.C. he got his first official appointment under Government, as a quaestor, which secured him a seat in the Senate, and in 63 B.C. he appointed Pontifex maximus, a position of great dignity and importance in the religion establishment of the Roman State. He was onthe way up, and his rise was furthered by successful administration of a province in Spain. So capable did he prove that in 60 B.C. he was chosen by Rome, to form with him and crassus what is called the 1st Triumvirate. To strengthen the union between himself and Pompey, Caesar gave Pompey his daughter Julia in marriage. Then after a year as Consul, Caesar applied for, and was granted, the proconculship of Gual and Illyricum, the Roman dominion that extended from what

The Complete College Application Process Expert Guide
The Complete College Application Process Expert Guide SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips If you want to successfully complete the college application process and make yourself as competitive for college admission as possible, youââ¬â¢ll be directly or indirectly working on your college applications well before the deadlines approach. In fact, if you have any intention of applying to selective colleges, this process can really begin as early as your freshman year. In this article, Iââ¬â¢ll describe all of the tasks you should complete to maximize your chances of getting into the best possible college. Furthermore, Iââ¬â¢ll let you know when you should be completing these tasks so that youââ¬â¢re able to stay on top of the process. Feature image source: Scott Savage/Flickr Overview of the College Application Process The major components of your application that will be evaluated are your transcript, your standardized test scores, your recommendations, your personal essay, and your extracurricular activities. I'll walk you through all the steps you need to take to strengthen each component of your application. If you follow my advice and timeline, you'll make yourself an extremely strong candidate for any college. Read on to learn the specific things you should be doing and when to do them. Take the Right Classes When to start: Before freshman year Colleges will evaluate you based on the classes youââ¬â¢ve taken. The most selective schools want to admit students who have challenged themselves and are willing to push themselves academically. You donââ¬â¢t have to take every single honors and AP course thatââ¬â¢s offered at your school, but if you want to get into a top college, you should be able to demonstrate that you can excel in some of the hardest courses that are available to you. Also, it's best to take the most difficult classes in the subjects related to your academic strengths or your intended major. You should begin thinking about whichclasses totake before your freshman year of high school. In many schools, the math or foreign language class you take during your freshman year will determine what level youââ¬â¢re able to reach when youââ¬â¢re a senior in high school. Spend ample time considering which classes to takeand whether those classes will allow you to pursue your academic interests and reach your college goals. Specifically, consider whichscience, math, history, foreign language, English, elective, and AP classes you should take. Challenging yourself makes you stronger. Get Good Grades When to start: Freshman year I think this is pretty obvious, but your grades matter to colleges. The majority of colleges will focus on your sophomore and junior year grades, but schoolswill also look at your freshman and senior year grades. Also, your high school GPA is typically calculated from your grades from all four years of high school. You should try to maintain the mentality that every semester counts, and do as well as you can each year of high school. For inspiration and useful information, check out our article on how to get a 4.0 GPA and better grades. Excel in Extracurriculars When to start: Freshman year Other than your grades and test scores, your extracurricular activities probably have the biggest influence on the quality of your college application. Colleges, especially the most selective ones, want their students to have exceptional achievements outside of the classroom, and theyââ¬â¢re looking for individuals who use their leisure time to pursue their passions. You should participate in extracurricular activities throughout high school. Colleges prefer to see a sustained commitment to your activities; itââ¬â¢s more impressive to do one activity for four years and continue to show growth in that activity than it is to do four activities for one year each. Some students believe they need to be well-rounded and do a ton of extracurriculars; however, for college admissions, it may be more advantageous for you to develop a ââ¬Å"spikeâ⬠and exhibit excellence in a particular activity or field. Instead of playing every sport, writing for the school newspaper, participating in speech and debate, and joining student government, you may be better served to focus your extracurricularefforts on becoming a superstar field hockey player. Or, if you're passionate about science, you may want to spend your free time creating an award-winning project for science fair or competing in Science Olympiad. If you have multiple interests, it's perfectly acceptable to explore all of them; just keep in mind that you don't have to do every possible extracurricular to get into a great college, and, generally, reaching the highest level in a given activity requires such an incredible time commitment that you won't have time to participate in many other activities outside of school. Learn what to do if youââ¬â¢re struggling to find extracurriculars. Also, when youââ¬â¢re filling out your college applications, know how to write about your extracurriculars. Maybe the marching band is a good extracurricular for you. Image source:Utah Department of Transportation/Flickr Rock Your Standardized Tests When to start: Sophomore year Even though some colleges have minimized the importance of standardized tests in admissions, your standardized test scores are still a crucial component of your application to most colleges. I advise starting your studying for the SAT/ACT during your sophomore year. Also, you may want to take the PSAT or PreACT during your sophomore year to familiarize yourself with standardized tests. To give yourself the best chance of reaching your target score and to decrease your stress level, we recommend first taking your SAT/ACT in the fall of your junior year. If you donââ¬â¢t reach your target score on your first attempt, you can do more studying and retake the test in the spring of your junior year. If you achieve the score youââ¬â¢re hoping for by the end of your junior year, youââ¬â¢ll have more time duringyour senior year to focus on your schoolwork, extracurriculars, and college applications. If youââ¬â¢re still unsatisfied with your score at the end of your junior year, you have more time to study over the summer and retake the test in the fall. Make sure you know when is the last time you can take the SAT/ACT. Your deadline for taking the SAT/ACT is dependent upon the specific schools you apply to and whether or not you apply early. For most schools, for early decision, you have to take the SAT/ACT by October or November of your senior year, and for regular decision, you have to take the SAT/ACT by December of your senior year. However, there are a few colleges that will accept the January SAT or the February ACT. If youââ¬â¢re considering applying to a school that requires SAT Subject Tests, I also recommend taking those by the end of your junior year. Research Colleges When to start: Junior year Before you apply to college, you need to know which colleges to apply to. You can start learning about colleges as early as your freshman year, especially if you want to get an idea of what you need to do to be a competitive applicant, but you should actively research colleges starting in your junior year at the latest. Use college search websites, finders, guidebooks, and ranking lists to help find colleges that would be a good fit for you. You can also use college fairs and tours to gain more exposure to different colleges and get a better idea of what youââ¬â¢re looking for in a school. By the start of your senior year of high school, you should have a list of colleges to apply to. I recommend applying to reach schools, target schools, and at least a couple of safety schools. College Fair fun. Image source:Patrick Giblin/Flickr Get Superb Recommendations When to start: Spring of junior year Recommendations are also an important part of your college applications. Colleges want assessments from others on your abilities as a student and your character. Be aware of what constitutes a good recommendation and how to ask for a letter of recommendation. Itââ¬â¢s best to initially ask teachers to write your recommendations in the spring of your junior year. By asking early, youââ¬â¢ll be able to get your teachers to agree before they become inundated with requests during your senior year, and theyââ¬â¢ll have more time to think about what theyââ¬â¢re going to write. Make sure you know whom to ask to write your letters. At the beginning of your senior year, you can submit formal requests for your recommendation letters. Also, for your reference, check out these recommendation letters that got a student admitted to Harvard and other Ivy League schools. Write Outstanding College Essays When to start: Summer before senior year Writing your college essays is the most challenging and time-consuming part of the actual application process. Learn everything you need to know about the college essay and how to come up with great college essay ideas.I recommend starting to work on your college essays during the summer before your senior year. The absolute latest you'd want to wait isthe beginning of your senior year, as soon as youââ¬â¢ve finalized thelist of colleges youââ¬â¢re applying to. Even though college essays arenââ¬â¢t particularly long, in my experience, they do take much longer than youââ¬â¢d anticipate, and youââ¬â¢re less likely to be able to write good essays if you wait until the last minute to start. Give yourself enough time to have a trusted teacher or counselor proofread your essays. And youââ¬â¢ll also need time to revise them. Obviously, the essays have to be completed before you submit your applications. If youââ¬â¢re applying early, most deadlines are in mid-November. If youââ¬â¢re applying regular decision, most deadlines are around January 1st. Make sure you keep track of deadlines forthe schools youââ¬â¢re applying to because deadlines will vary. For example, the application deadline for University of California schools is November 30th. Final Thoughts and Additional Steps For most students, the steps listed above are the major components of the college application process. However, some of you may have to do extra work depending on your situation and the colleges you apply to. For example, if you're an aspiring college athlete, you may participate in the athletic recruiting process. If you're applying to an art school or program, you may have to make an art portfolio. Also, some colleges recommend or require interviews. If you interview, know what questions to ask and prepare for. For those of you seeking financial aid, youââ¬â¢ll have to go through the financial aid process, and you may want to apply for scholarships. You should find out the status of earlyapplications in mid-December and regular applications by late March. Then, you may find yourself with multiple options and have to face the task ofchoosing a college. While the application process can feel overwhelming and incredibly stressful, you can minimize your stress by having a plan and avoiding procrastination. Donââ¬â¢t worry too much. Regardless of what you do, thereââ¬â¢s no absolute guarantee that youââ¬â¢ll get into the most selective colleges, but if you try hard and follow our advice, youââ¬â¢ll get into a good college and develop the attributes that will enable your future success. What is the threshold for manufacturing industries that manufacture or Essay - 1
What is the threshold for manufacturing industries that manufacture or process EPA listed extremely hazardous materials (Explain what it is and specify the threshold level in pounds.) - Essay Example Several reports are required for manufacturing organizations directly handling hazardous materials. These reports include chemical inventories, releases of these chemicals in the environment, and emergency notification and response plans, among others. The EPA identified 360 extremely hazardous substances and more than 700 hazardous substances (Alaska State Emergency Response Commission 2009, par. 14). The threshold is a value or the point at which the maximum concentration of hazardous materials begins to affect an exposed person. (International Association of Fire Chiefs 2004, 844) According the EPA, ââ¬Å"the current thresholds for Sections 311 and 312 are stipulated: for extremely hazardous substances: 500 pounds or the threshold planning quantity, whichever is lower; and for all other hazardous chemicals: 10,000 pounds.â⬠This means that a person would be affected when exposed to 500 pounds of extremely hazardous materials and the manufacturing organization has the responsibility to notify both the Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC) and the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC). Below the threshold, the manufacturing facility has no obligation to

Service Operations Management2014 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Service Operations Management2014 - Essay Example To this end, the paper will make use of developmental strategies espoused by Cooper and Kleinschmidt (2011) as being integral to launching a product or a business unit in any market. These concepts include defining the target market, identifying the needs, preference and wants of the potential customer, as well as defining the product and/or business concept, its specifications and requirements, in an adequate and satisfactory manner. In order to be able to maximize sales, it is important that we understand the nature of the target customer, more so their preference and desires. Through this, the business is able to establish the existence of a potent customer base as well as learn how to render the service or product in the best way that meets the needs of the customers. In addition, the business is able to develop appropriate marketing strategies capable of reaching the customer base as well as ways of improving the delivery of the marketing strategies (Neelankavil and Rai, 2014). Availing information on the service package on the other hand enables the business to define the different services bundles ranging from supporting facility to facilitating goods, explicit to implicit services, and their impacts on the wellbeing of the business. For years, the target market for fast food businesses has been the young generation. This is so because the young people have an insatiable appetite for good food available on the go. This group also forms the largest of our target market for this business, and in addition to which we are introducing other food that appeal to the elderly as well. This diversification is aimed at reaching out to a larger market segment in order to guarantee quantifiable sales at the onset of the business, and to lay ground for our brand identification as an all-inclusive one. Shenkar, Luo and Chi (2014) advance that focusing on a younger market segment is important to the success of a business as it allows the business to

Comparing Poems From Other Cultures Essay Example for Free
Comparing Poems From Other Cultures Essay In these two poems, identity is seen to be important, for in half-caste the author is trying to seek acceptance from others around him for who he is as a person, but in search for my tongue the author is losing her identity and is seeking help in finding out who she as a person. Half-caste portrays someone who feels that people label others without knowing them as people first, and how much it can hurt them. For John Agard says:Explain yuself, wha you mean, when yu say half caste. This shows that he is confused about how he portrays himself to others, and how others perceive him. This make you think that the way in people perceives you on first appearance makes you who you are.Ã Search for my tongue is like a cry out to others to help with her lost mother tongue, and she doesnt know what her identity is because she is confused about which language is her. It also shows how people dont understand how she feels or understand what she is going through with her struggle with the two languages that she uses. For it says: You ask me what I mean by saying I have lost my tongue. This shows that she feels isolated from others as they do not understand the internal struggle she is going through having to lose her original identity her mother tongue to a new identity, a foreign tongue.Ã In half-caste, the tone is quite angry and harsh. I feel that the tone is displayed in this way because he is angry with others for judging him for being mixed race, and the prejudices that everybody has towards others. For even though in the poem it just confronts the prejudice at half-caste people, there is always prejudice towards everybody, not just half-caste people. So in this poem he is challenging the fact that prejudice is wrong and unfair, and hurts people because they are being judged before people know them properly as a person. Some of this aggressive confrontational work is evident by the line: So spiteful dem dont want de sun pass.Ã This shows that prejudice people are so spiteful that they dont think half-caste should be able to walk past them in the street. This shows that people can be severely hurt by a label, and that because of the way peoples minds have been brought up, they believe they are superior to so called half-castes, and believe the half-castes not worthy enough to even walk the same streets as the superior people.Ã In search, the tone is quite confused and lonely, and is unsure of who she is as a person. For her original identity was gujarati, but having had convert to a foreign language she feels that she has lost her original identity, and has been forced to take on a different identity because of the different language she has to communicate to others in the place she lives in now. For she says: You could not use them both, even if you thought that way.Ã This shows that she feels she is losing her sense of identity, and feels she has to choose between the life she lives now and her original identity. She feels that the new language is pushing the other one away, and dominating her life so much that she forgets how her life used to be before it was controlled by the foreign language.Ã In half-caste Agard rejects the conventional punctuation, for there isnt a single comma or full stop in the whole of the poem. Also, he misspells half of the words in his poem purposely to help get his message across to the reader. The lack of punctuation and misspelling is all for the purpose of the poem. As people think that he is half-caste, they believe him to be incapable of any proper thoughts, feelings or being capable to produce something that could make an impact on somebody elses life. It is also used to strike the audience hard with his message of how everybody is equal no matter what their ethnic background is. For he says: Wid de whole of yu eye an de whole of yu ear an the whole of yu mind.Ã This shows that he feels that those who mock him are the whole who considered themselves to be perfect and have no faults of their own, and are known to be the superior race. It shows that he knows that they like downgrading him by saying hes half-caste, and has only half a mind, showing that they think he is incapable of proper thoughts, or proper feelings. In Search, the punctuation is consistent, but the poem structure is always different. The line lengths are all different, and there are no stanzas to separate the poem out it is all just one long stanza. In Half-caste, there is 3 stanzas of various lengths, to help get the meaning of the poem across better to the audience and the poems lines are all of similar lengths, to keep it sharp and continuous.Ã The layout of search, with its punctuation and line lengths shows that she is trying to find some consistency in her life she is trying to find what she knows in life to find in the end that she can, in her dreams. The fact that she also includes both English and Gujarati in her poem shows that even though she does use the English language, Gujarati is still an important part of her life, as it makes up part of who she is as a person. For she says: Everytime I think Ive forgottenit blossoms out of my mouth.Ã This shows that even if she forgets, or is so used to using the foreign language, she cannot forget her native language even if she tried. This is because it has been a part of her culture and identity for so long, she cannot part from it, no matter what she is faced with or what ever happens to her.Ã So the identity that is portrayed in half-caste is no matter what ethnic background you come from, no matter what you look like as an individual, we are all equal human beings and all deserve the right to be able to live our lives to the full.Ã The identity that is portrayed in search is one that suggests that you cannot lose who you are as a person, no matter what you are faced with, even if you have to change your language or move somewhere else, you cannot change who you truly are as a person.
